The new Batman cartoon Thursday, November 20th, 2008

I don’t know if any of you guys saw the new Batman cartoon “Batman - The Brave and the Bold”, but I did.  It’s…interesting.  It’s like if they took the campy 60’s Batman and gave it an awesome anime treatment…and added Green Lantern-style space ridiculousness.

Christmas ‘08 and the Economy Monday, November 17th, 2008

So, it looks like it might be kind of a slim Christmas (again!) this year, due to our economic troubles in America. Sure, parents will do their best for the little ones, but for us grown-ups, it’s going to be harder to make those $100-500 purchases. As a results, the tech industry expects to take a big hit this year, which means that Black Friday numbers may be completely abysmal. Jake Gyllenhaal, in my Prince of Persia? (It’s more likely than you think.) Friday, May 30th, 2008

Jake_Gyllenhaal_brokeback.jpg So, this may be old news to some of you, but it’s new to me. Apparrently, Disney has chosen “Brokeback Mountain” co-star Jake Gyllenhaal to play the role of the prince in “Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time”. This is probably the first time you have read words “Brokeback Mountain” and Disney in the same sentence, so if you’re confused I will understand.

From CountingDown.com:

“Borys Kit reports; “Jake Gyllenhaal and Gemma Arterton will star in “Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time,” Disney and Jerry Bruckheimer Films’ adaptation of Ubisoft’s popular video game. Mike Newell is directing.

In the fantasy adventure, Gyllenhaal will play Dastan, a young prince in 6th century Persia who must join forces with Tamina (Arterton), a feisty and exotic princess, to prevent a villainous nobleman from possessing the Sands of Time, a gift from the gods that can reverse time and allow its possessor to rule the world.”

Cloverfield Monday, January 28th, 2008

Cloverfield PosterOur once Japan-based, now San Diego-inhabiting friend Tyger wrote a nice little review on the recent J.J. Abrams smash-fest Cloverfield. It may have some minor spoilers for those of you who may not have seen the movie yet…since you’re not really supposed to know much of anything about the movie before you see it. Still, It’s been out for a few weeks now, so too bad. That’s why you see it on the opening weekend.

Anyway, I’ll post this one, but from now on his ass can post his own reviews…now that I changed his account privileges. Until then, read on to see if he thought it was a non-stop thrill ride, or fluff-filled motion-sickener…
