Comic Con Experience Monday, July 28th, 2008

So I was just going to post about my time kicking it at the Pixel Junk Eden Booth where me and the wife got addicted to this new PS3 classic in the making, but I don’t want to short change you guys so I’ll hit you guys with the highlights.

First off here’s Kanna playing Motorstorm 3 where a hands on beta was available for the first time to the public. The game is incredibly fun and up to four players were getting it in at the booth a few feet away from the new SOCOM, Buzz and handouts of exclussive giveaways of Eye of Judgement Cards.

Of course my highlight of the day came when I sat in on the Attack of the Show Pannel and met Kevin Periera, Olivia Munn, Blair Butler and Cobra Commander. Kevin’s parents and Drunken Ted (Given away to whoever could make the quickest burrito) also made appearances. Those guys are soooo authentic!! It was really amazing to meet them and watch how they interact with another. The family-like chemistry was definatly there. Oh and I also met the “uber-fan” Fritz. Hey flew there from Philly!!! Someone give that man a job!!

All and all it was an awesome experience!!! Anyone that can find the AOTS panel online hit me up! Oh and check out this game I picked up at one of the booths. Its free from NCSoft. There are ads and microtransactions but they don’t hender the experience if you want to stay free. Its called Exteel and its a Mech-based p-vs-p game. Once you get past the Tutorial its lots of fun. If your on, find me. Tyger0! Holla…

Joss Whedon Presents: Dr. Horrible Monday, June 30th, 2008

I found this among some Joss Whedon news… It seems that Mr. Whedon has created a new internet mini-series, namely “Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog“.

From doctorhorrible.net: “During the WGA strike Joss Whedon started writing a three part musical series for the internet. Each of the three episodes will be approximately ten minutes each.”

You’re going to want to read more after the break… (more…)

The Prisoner Returns to TV Monday, June 30th, 2008

Found this article on io9 linking to The Guardian, which explains that The Prisoner, a wholeheartedly WSO supported classic, will begin broadcasting on AMC next year.

It has also been confirmed that Sir Ian McKellen and Jim Caviezel (The Passion of the Christ, he was J.C.) will star in the new version. McKellan will play the role of Number Two, while Caviezel will play the role formerly pwned by Patrick McGoohan, the imprisoned Number Six.

The show will be a six-hour miniseries produced by the UK’s ITV, who produced the original show in 1967.

Venture Bros. T-Shirts Week 2 Wednesday, June 11th, 2008

As a follow-up to this post, this week brings us another Venture Bros. themed t-shirt!

The current t-shirt is titled “Dr. Henry Killinger”. It features the Dr.’s signature red skull that is featured on his black coat, as well as on his Magic Murder Bag (not included). You can order the t-shirt from the AstroBaseGo webpage here.

While you’re at it, you might want to also check out a cool custom action figure page that I found, called Sillof’s Workshop. This guy has made his own Venture Bros. action figures, which look pretty darn cool. Also his site features other custom figures such as Dune, and Steampunk Star Wars.

The Venture Bros. - The T-shirt! Wednesday, June 4th, 2008

ventureguild.jpgAccording to Nate, in celebration of the new Venture Bros. season 3, of which the first episode was Sunday 6/1, AstroBaseGo has decided to release a series of t-shirts to commemorate season 3.  Each week, they will offer a different t-shirt for purchase, themed to that week’s episode. Pretty cool idea, if you ask me.

This week’s t-shirt is themed in the manner of The Guild of Calamitous Intent (pictured). Keep checking here every week for a different shirt!

Lost Season Finale Thursday, May 29th, 2008

lost-season2.jpg

Well, it’s official. Lost finally feels like it is back in the place where it was at the end of Season 1. The mystery and wonder has returned.

I have to say that I am so much more satisfied with this season over last season. A lot of questions were answered; maybe even more than the new questions that arose. What was even more surprising was that some of the most perplexing pieces of this season’s puzzle actually were explained a bit, instead of waiting for another 10-20 episodes to explain it all.

There’s definitely a lot more to the story that can be played out next year. But overall, I’m very happy with the way this season progressed, the new characters that were introduced, and old characters that reappeared whom we thought were long gone. Looking forward to the next season.

I guess Heroes and The Venture Brothers will have to hold me over in the meantime!

Terry Pratchett’s The Colour of Magic Thursday, March 27th, 2008

The Colour of Magic

There was a two part miniseries on the UK’s SkyOne channel this week called “Terry Pratchett’s The Colour of Magic“. It’s an adaptation of his first two Discworld books and it’s far and away the best Terry Pratchett adaptation I’ve ever seen. Jenn and I watched the first part and a little of the second part last night and we were really impressed. Sean Astin plays the cheerful but clueless Twoflower, the Disc’s first tourist. Tim Curry plays a conniving wizard named Trymon, who is constantly looking to move up in the ranks at Unseen University. Jeremy Irons plays The Patrician, the incredibly intimidating ruler of the sprawling city of Ankh-Morpork. Christopher Lee is the voice of Death. The miniseries is also filled with a million other UK actors you may have seen somewhere, maybe flipping past WHYY or BBC America or something. The guy who plays Mr. Filch (the grumpy old caretaker of Hogwarts) in the Harry Potter movies is in the second part. He plays Cohen the Barbarian, an adventuring hero who so good at what he does that he’s able to survive into his 90’s. But the celebrity actors are only half of what makes this miniseries great. The overall presentation, the look and feel of it, brings a good measure of class to an otherwise ridiculous comedy.
